Happy Birthday to Us!

Just over a year ago, we kicked things off here at LTIL with a profile of a woman who helps Burmese refugees and a poem about dead chicken. Time flies!

To celebrate our anniversary, we’re taking this and next week off, then will resume posting new content on April 24.

In the meantime, why not dig through the archives and re-read some of the great stories you missed year? We’ve got 73 fantastic features from 27 exceptional writers, who have contributed from all around the country (and beyond), telling us about Massachusetts trailsbigoted boy scouts, and poop in a West Virginia Cracker Barrel.

We have photos of ruins, and interviews with two award-winning  authors, too.

Oh, and do you remember the time Garrett ranked America’s license plates?

Whether you’ve been with us for the start or are just checking out the site now, thanks so much reading. If you enjoy what we do, like us on Facebook and follow us on Twitter (we’re just starting to build our profile), where we’re going to tweet some of our favorite stories from the past year.

When we return, we’ll have some cool new features (including a long-awaited interactive homepage map), so stay tuned. Can’t wait to see you again soon!
